It’s about analyzing trends and patterns to tell the story of what occurred in a business or process. Purpose: To explain past performance and trends and provide context for decision-making. It’s the “What happened?” phase of analytics. Key Tools & Techniques: Dashboards and reports (Power BI, Tableau) Data aggregation and visualization Time-series trend analysis Drill-down and slice-and-dice techniques Example (in Data Science): Creating a dashboard that visualizes monthly defect trends, customer return rates, or production yields across regions to identify where variation is most significant.
